REMODELERS ENCOURAGED TO ENTER ENERGYVALUE AWARDS COMPETITION BY JULY 29TH

Remodelers are encouraged to submit entries for the 2012 EnergyValue Housing Awards (EVHA) honoring builders and remodelers who voluntarily integrate energy efficiency in the design, construction and marketing of new and existing homes.
 
Sponsored by the NAHB Research Center, applications are due on Friday, July 29.
This is only the second year in which the 16-year EVHA competition has been open to remodelers. Categories for builders include single-family and multifamily projects.
Clifton View Homes, of Coupeville, Wash., earned Remodeler of the Year honors last year. Through the remodel, the company was able to reduce the home’s utility bills by two-thirds, even though the home’s square footage increased by 10%. (READ MORE)
 
 
Savvy Consumers Putting a Premium on Green Building Professionals

Green values have been reported on extensively in the media and touted in advertising during the past decade, but sadly they’ve also been accompanied by misinformation and tremendous confusion about what “green” actually means.
 
Add to that an economy in which no one wants to spend money foolishly and you wind up with many consumers who are hesitant to invest in green technology.
 
But there are consumers who are looking for credible ways to determine how to get the best bang for their green buck. Recognizable and credible labels such as Energy Star remain popular because people trust them. (READ MORE)

 

CSG’S MLS ENERGY PROJECT GAINING GROUND IN NEW YORK
 
June 3, 2011 – The MLS Energy Project, led by Conservation Services Group (CSG), is well under way more than six months after the start of the program that began last October. CSG is working with Realtors© across Upstate New York and on Long Island on a program that is aiming to establish a Multiple Listing Service (MLS) category for the residential real estate market, enabling homebuyers to evaluate a house’s energy performance before it is purchased. The national energy services firm has also launched a statewide working group and has steadily been increasing the number of Realtor and “non-Realtor” stakeholders involved in the program since it began.
